10 Thoughts for Lifelong Learning…

Leadership is both an art and a discipline.

It’s shaped by experiences, challenges, and the standards you hold yourself to daily.

At VERVE, we believe leadership is about more than just knowing what to do—it’s about showing up, over and over, in the right way.

Here are 10 lessons I lean on as a leader:

1. Lead by example.

Actions speak louder than words. Values, behaviors, and work ethic define culture.

2. Own it.

Leadership means owning the good and the bad. Accountability builds trust.

3. Act, learn, act again.

Don’t let analysis paralyze you. Progress comes from doing, adjusting, and doing again.

4. Be crystal clear.

Every team member should know their role and why their contributions matter.

5. Find your passion.

If what you’re working on doesn’t excite you, take a hard look at what will and pursue it.

6. Focus on the vital few.

Identify the 20% that delivers 80% of the results and execute accordingly.

7. Inspire growth.

Care deeply about your people. Understand their goals and help them thrive.

8. Commit to daily discipline.

Routine beats talent every time. For me, that’s a cold plunge, quiet prayer, and exercise.

9. Listen

You have two eyes and two ears, but only one mouth. Use them accordingly. Observing solves more problems than talking ever will.

10. Check the mirror.

Are you living the values and vision you expect from others? Be honest, but don’t be too hard on yourself. Progress, not perfection.

Leadership isn’t static. It’s a daily commitment to be better—for yourself, your team, and your mission.
