“You become who you hang around with most in this world”
Warren Buffet said that we become the average of the five people we hang around with the most. From my perspective, in this virtual world we live in, these don’t have to be the ones sitting at the dinner table with you every night.
Here are some individuals (besides my wife Natalie, the Lazarek sister tribe and Team VERVE) who often influence my thoughts, along with what I currently hear them saying to me:
Sahil Bloom: “Dan, Be your authentic self. Outwork everyone. Take consistent action.” Sahil inspires me because he practices and lives out what he is preaching.
Tim Ferriss: “What would it look like if it were easy?” Being engaged in this simple question has sparked countless breakthroughs for me.
Tony Robbins: “Laz, where focus grows, energy flows.” Spend 5% of your time on the problem and 95% on the solution.
Tim Tebow: “Live through your faith. Serve others.” Lead with purpose and make a positive impact on someone’s life every day.
The Lord: He speaks to me in many ways. My faith centers and grounds me, providing strength in countless aspects of my life.
We all could use a little faith.
Dan Lazarek: That Guy! Yes, that’s Me, Myself, and I—my own voice, my own cheerleader.
These thoughts resonate with me daily:
• Think big, execute daily.
• Stay positive, eliminate toxic thoughts, people and behaviors.
• Find and celebrate the joy in the journey.
• What lies ahead is nothing compared to what we’ve overcome.
We’re with ourselves 24/7, and the incredible people I’ve mentioned are always in my head, feeding my insatiable appetite for knowledge.
I talk to myself all the time—I’m sure you do too. To all of you, I say:
Life is short. You can achieve anything you dare to dream, write down, and shout out loud then work tirelessly for.
Life will knock you down. People may say you are crazy and tell you why something can’t be done. But none of that matters.
What truly matters? Your mindset and your willingness to take action to make it happen.
