Break News – Cold Plunge Update:
For the past three years, my daily routine has included a refreshing 39-degree early morning cold plunge.
It’s my sacred time for quiet reflection, prayer, and focusing on the vital few things I need to get done for the day.
Last year, I shared this story….
As I was heading outside to plunge, our then four-year-old daughter, Lily Grace, stopped me and said,
“Dad, it’s very important. Can we talk?”
Curious, I asked, “Sure, what’s up?”
“Dad, I think I need my own cold plunge. I like it; it makes me feel better and helps with my headaches. Your plunge is too big for me to get in and out of by myself.”
I was floored (and proud).
I said, “That’s awesome! I feel great after my plunge every day too!”
So, I headed to the garage, grabbed our blue Igloo cooler, and set her up with her very own “Cold Plunge LG.”
Since then, we’ve plunged side by side most every morning.
Fast Forward to 2025:
We’ve got company.
Lily Grace’s younger sister, London Rose, just joined the plunge party.
That’s right — it’s now a full-blown Daddy-Daughter Plunge Club.
Three Lazareks. Three tubs: XL for me, L for Lily Grace, and S for London Rose.
Mine holds steady at 39 degrees, theirs hover around 50ish.
And always, a whole lot of belly laughs.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
1. Shared discipline becomes shared joy.
Cold plunging with two of my daughters has doubled the fun, deepened our connection, and brought a unique kind of joy to our mornings.
(Their older sisters think we’re nuts.)
2. Actions speak louder than words.
I can tell my children to workout, do their homework, eat healthy, and treat others well, but the reality is, it’s what they see me doing every day that sticks.
In the rush of everyday life, it’s easy to overlook these small but sacred moments.
But I’m grateful for the reminder — straight from my daughters — that joy is found in the cold, quiet spaces we choose to share.
